+ Research

Extensive research was conducted to understand the habits, preferences, and pain points of the target audience—gamers seeking access to high-quality equipment without the high upfront costs. This research involved analyzing existing rental platforms, forums, and community feedback to identify significant gaps in current offerings. These insights directly informed the development of our app, which is designed to streamline the process of renting gaming gear, offering a seamless, trustworthy, and gamer-centric experience that existing platforms fail to provide.

+ Value Proposition - Maximizing the App

Using a Value Proposition Canvas, I mapped out the various functions of the app. By identifying the benefits it offers and why it's valuable to users, I gained insight into its strengths. I also pinpointed the drawbacks of the app and brainstormed solutions to address them. This process helped me understand how the app can meet user needs effectively while also improving upon any limitations it may have.

Feedback

Our app collects user feedback around three core features: selling, buying, and safe gaming alerts. After each transaction, users can rate their experience and share comments to help improve the platform. Quick reactions to safe gaming alerts help us assess their clarity and usefulness. Regular in-app surveys and usage data will guide future updates, ensuring the app stays secure, efficient, and community-driven.

+Desktop App

A desktop version of Rigged has been developed to ensure users can easily access the platform from any device, whether they are on a computer, laptop, or tablet. This expanded accessibility offers a more flexible and convenient experience, allowing gamers to browse, rent, buy, or sell equipment seamlessly without being limited to their mobile devices. The desktop interface maintains the same user-friendly design and functionality as the mobile app, while optimizing the layout for larger screens to enhance navigation and usability.

Desktop Version - The Prototype

Untitled design (1).gif

Making a desktop version of the app has several important benefits:

  • Wider Accessibility: Not all users prefer using mobile apps, especially for detailed tasks like browsing equipment, managing rentals, or making purchases. A desktop version makes the platform accessible to more users, on more devices.

  • Better User Experience for Complex Actions: Renting, buying, or selling gaming gear often involves reviewing specs, comparing options, and messaging other users—tasks that are faster and easier to handle on a larger screen.

+Learning Outcomes

The platform serves as a hub where gamers can connect, access valuable information, and rent high-end gaming rigs they might not otherwise afford. It not only fosters a community for sharing insights but also offers resources to help users expand their skills and deepen their involvement in the gaming world. Coming into this project with limited experience in gaming, I conducted thorough research by watching gameplay videos, reading equipment reviews, and categorizing different types of gear. I also ran a local survey to better understand the community’s current needs, using a process of elimination to refine the app’s focus. These research methods allowed me to create a platform with a clear purpose, tailored to what gamers are actively seeking today.

+Conclusion

In conclusion, this project not only strengthened my research and design skills but also gave me deeper insight into the gaming community’s real needs. By combining thorough market research with community feedback, I was able to create a focused, user-centered platform that makes high-end gaming more accessible. This experience highlighted the importance of adapting research methods to unfamiliar industries and reinforced the value of building solutions that are both practical and community-driven.
